Coochbehar Rajbari, or Cooch Behar Palace, was built by Nripendra Narayan, the renowned king of the Koch dynasty, in 1887. Influenced by the classical European style of the Italian Renaissance, The Palace was modelled after the Buckingham Palace in London with 4768 Square metres of area. The frontal facade contains a series of vaults reclining by every other disposition of narrow and broad pillars to hold single and double Corinthian pediments, respectively.
Through the Durbar Hall, a porch is lined in the centre to supply the main entrance to Rajbari. Durbar Hall in dodecagonal shape was modelled after St. Peter’s Church. Rajbari has more than fifty rooms, Pietra Dura in marble floors, bedrooms, kitchen, library, dining hall, dancing hall, Toshakhana.
